Dermapen works by enhancing the body’s natural processes. A group of micro needles vibrates across the skin surface, piercing it with vertical movements. Thousands of micropunctures stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which plays a crucial role in the development of happy and healthy skin.
Dermapen™ is a micro needling treatment that can have amazing results. Dermapen™ hit the U.S. market in 2011. With its 6,000 practitioners, it is being used worldwide. Since it is minimally invasive, it has been proven to rejuvenate skin and has a much faster recovery time than other skin treatments like the ILP laser or chemical peels. Dermapen™ has been shown to be effective in treating a diverse range of skin issues.
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Over-sized pores
- Stretch marks
- Smokers’ lines
- and many more ...
How does the Dermapen work?
A Dermapen™ is an instrument about the size of a toothbrush that has a tip with 12 microneedles in it. This tip is disposable, reducing the chance of cross-contamination or infection for patients. When the Dermapen™ is turned on it vibrates, causing the needles to move up and down vertically, gently puncturing the skin through the epidermis and dermis layers. As the Dermapen™ is moved over the skin, the skin is pricked hundreds or even thousands of times.
These tiny pricks “injure” the skin, causing the body to create collagen to heal itself. Collagen is a protein found in our bodies. When collagen is produced, skin becomes thicker and tighter, causing wrinkles to disappear. Damaged skin will naturally be replaced with new skin. Scars, such as acne scars, are healed and disappear. All of these processes make the skin look more youthful. In addition, the pricks can carry healing skin products deeper into the skin, also helping the skin to heal, repair, and regenerate.
Do microneedle treatments hurt? Will my skin bleed? What should I expect my skin to look like after a treatment? Is there downtime?
Yes, micro needling, especially on the bony parts of your face like your forehead will hurt. The pain, is short-lived, though. A practitioner can do an area, like your forehead, in about 4 minutes. The more fatty part of your face, such as your cheeks, hurt less. Practitioners can use a numbing cream on your face to reduce pain before starting the procedure.
During micro needling your skin may have some pinpricks of blood but your skin does not bleed after a treatment. Your face may look a little red in some areas. The microneedles may create an “orange peel” look, with many small holes in some areas. However, within a few hours, the redness fades.
Is the Dermapen™ safe?
Yes, a Dermapen™ treatment is safe. Since injections are not part of the treatment, allergic reactions and side-effects are not likely to occur. Since the treatment is minimally invasive, there is virtually no downtime. Your skin heals quickly and after care is simple skin care that you can do at home.
When will I see results?
Within 24-48 hours, your skin is fully healed and will start to improve in appearance. You will notice gradually improvements. Since skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, your skin will show more results at the 6-8 week mark and will continue to improve over time.
Do you recommend one treatment? Or a series of treatments?
Every person’s needs are different. At Trilogy, we are happy to give you a free personal consultation to discuss your needs.
Even though you will see results after one treatment, generally, we recommend a series of treatments for even more drastic results.
