Erectile Dysfunction Treatments
Every year, millions of men deal with erectile dysfunction or ED. ED is when the penis doesn’t get the blood supply needed for an erection. If you are dealing with this challenge, know you are not alone. Know, also, you have many great treatment options that don't involve medication or painful surgery. ED does not have to be a life-sentence of frustration.
At Trilogy we've successfully treated men with ED using one or more of the following treatments:
1. The Emsella Chair which uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic waves (similar to electro-magnetic imaging or MRI);
2. Hormone Pellet Therapy in which bio-identical hormone pellets are placed under the skin replacing hormones that are needed;
3. The P-Shot which is an injection of PRP or Platelet-Rich Plasma; and finally
4. Cellutone Treatment which uses targeted vibrations to increase circulation and blood flow. Read more below about these treatments and other things you can do at home to improve ED.
You may have already been to your family practice doctor and have learned about medications like Viagra that you can try. If you want to avoid medication, you can make lifestyle changes that can help.
Here’s a list of lifestyle changes to try at home:
- Get to a healthy weight. Heart disease and diabetes can increase the chance of getting ED. High cholesterol and high blood pressure also increase your chance of getting ED.
- Eat healthy food. Eating burgers and fries every day is definitely a no. Instead, focus on fruits, veggies, and healthy cuts of meat. Avoid sugary, processed foods.
- Avoid smoking and drinking.
- Work on controlling your stress level.
- Avoid steroids.
At Trilogy, we offer guys in Utah 4 innovative erectile dysfunction treatments.
1. Emsella Chair
The Emsella chair is a chair that you sit on, fully clothed. It sends HIFEM (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic waves through your body, causing your pelvic floor muscles to contract. One 30 minute treatment is like doing 11,200 Kegel exercises (a Kegel is a contraction of your pelvic floor muscles). This kind of stimulation can strengthen muscles supporting your bladder and increase circulation to all the parts you need it to. This treatment is simple, non-evasive and FDA-Approved. It's the same treatment used to successfully treat urinary incontinence in women. You can read or listen to a book or a podcast while you do this quick treatment.
2. Hormone Pellet Therapy
The hormone pellet is a small pellet containing bioidentical testosterone that is inserted under your skin on your upper buttocks. The pellet releases testosterone for 4-5 months. “Bioidentical” means similar to what your body makes when everything in your body is working well. If something changes and your body isn’t making enough testosterone, then you may feel run down, have less strength, and have ED symptoms. Our Physicians Assistant will test your hormone levels. If you don’t have enough testosterone, this pellet is a great way to get it. You get the pellet inserted and then you forget about it.
3. The P-Shot
The P-shot is a shot of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to the penis. Ouch, you may say, but it might be worth it. With this procedure, we do a simple blood draw from your arm. We take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge. The spinning causes the platelets to condense. We then take the condensed platelets, load them in a syringe, and then administer them. PRP has amazing healing properties. Many men experience an improvement in ED symptoms within a few weeks but some see benefits much sooner. It sounds painful but isn’t too bad. We will numb you up first. The results are pretty amazing.
4. Cellutone Therapy
Cellutone (acoustic sound wave therapy)/Shockwave therapy is a therapy that uses targeted vibrations to increase circulation and blood flow to an area on the body. Originally, Cellutone has been used to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Interestingly, cellulite is formed by a lack of microcirculation. Shockwave therapy, or acoustic sound wave therapy, has also been used in physical therapy to heal connective tissue, like tendons. This therapy increases circulation after the first treatment. It doesn’t hurt and there is no downtime.

As Dr. Kat explains, one of the things the cellutone - accoustical wave treatment does is breaks up plaque in the blood vessels which can lead to erectile disfunction. It also helps to stimulate blood flow. The Cellutone treatment can also be used as a preventative measure against ED. It helps to improve the overall heath of the tissue which can prevent ED from occurring. This procedure is simple, quick, only lasting 5-10 minutes and painless.
So, whether you are 30 or 80, you don’t have to accept that ED is going to be a part of your life. You can fight it. Improve or eliminate your symptoms with diet and exercise but speed things up with one of these innovative therapies.
