HORMONE THERAPY FOR ATHLETES
Because of the high demand we put on our bodies we tend to deplete our natural levels which in effect may cause an imbalance in our hormone levels. If you feel like you are putting in long training hours at the gym and not seeing the results you are looking for you may be a candidate for hormone pellet therapy. Without proper Testosterone levels during training you may experience low energy, hunger, food cravings, depression, slow recovery, loss of desire to compete or train, decrease in strength and endurance, mood levels and low libido. Pellet therapy is a slow release hormone therapy what will bring your levels to optimum without causing a “spike” in testosterone like other methods such as weekly.
Our bodies are amazing machines. We can work all day, then run or play sports or lift weights. All day long, our bodies are under immense stress and pressure. Day after day, our bodies perform. Sometimes, though, our bodies break down. We stop feeling like ourselves. Sometimes that feeling doesn’t go away. We may feel tired all the time, have a harder time sleeping, and may not be getting results from working out. If you have longed to feel as good as you used to, come to Trilogy. We offer hormone replacement therapy for men. If you are suffering from low Testosterone levels or low T, hormone replacement therapy can help you start feeling good again.
What causes low testosterone levels?
There are many causes of low T in our bodies. Here are only a few:
- Injury to testicles
- Chemo or radiation
- Anabolic Steroids
- Obesity (Fat cells start to convert testosterone to estrogen. Yikes!)
- Drug Use
How do I know if I have low T?
The simplest way to know if you have low testosterone levels is to ask your doctor to perform a blood test. Do you have symptoms of low T?
Common symptoms include the following:
- Decreased sex drive
- Erectile dysfuntion
- Decreased orgasms
- Decreased armpit, facial, and pubic hair
- Decreased muscle mass
- Decreased memory
What can I do about low T at home?
There are many easy ways to naturally increase testosterone levels.
- Lose weight. (Ok, I know this is easier said than done but any sacrifices you make will be worth it when you feel better.)
- Increase Zinc.
- Increase Vitamin D.
- Continue strength training.
- Limit sugar.
- Reduce stress (Another easier-said-than-done item).
- Eat healthy fats
You may have tried to lose weight, stress less, and eat better. If your testosterone continues to be low, despite lifestyle changes, hormone replacement therapy may be a great option for you.
What is pellet hormone replacement therapy? Why do it?
It is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. The term "bioidentical" means the hormones are chemically identical to those your body produces. The hormones are delievered to your body through a small pellet inserted into your skin, usually on the upper buttocks. The pellet slowly releases hormones for 4-5 months. Everyone has a different response to hormones, but many men experience an increase in their sex drive, weight loss, and feeling younger and more energetic. Also, many men reduce or eliminate the other negative symptoms listed above—depression, reduced strength, and reduced memory. Many men report an improvement in mood and outlook as well as bone density and muscle mass. It may sound too good to be true, but these benefits are real. You don’t have to accept feeling lousy as a given with aging, whether you are 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70.
