Injectable wrinkle treatments continue to be some of the most popular cosmetic treatments for men and women today because they can swiftly and easily smooth the skin and make individuals look far more youthful. You have probably already heard of Botox, which has been used for years to treat those irritating fine lines and wrinkles that appear when you make facial expressions. However, you may not have yet heard of a newer treatment often called Newtox because of its similarity to Botox.
What Is Newtox?
Newtox, which is also named Jeuveau, is a great alternative to Botox for many. It is known as a neuromodulator, meaning that it will work within the tiny muscles of the face to paralyze them temporarily. As a non-surgical treatment, these injectables are given through tiny injections that feel like little more than a pinching of the skin. Jeuveau has been FDA-approved since February of 2019, proving that it is both safe and effective for those wishing to fight off wrinkles.
How Does Newtox Work?
Much like Botox, Newtox works inside the smallest surface muscles of the face to stop them from responding to nerve stimulation. This then keeps the skin from crinkling up over the muscles and prevents many of the most common initial lines and wrinkles that you may see on your skin, such as horizontal forehead lines, vertical brow lines and crow’s feet. Primarily, Newtox is used to smooth the skin and soften facial expressions.
What Are the Differences Between Newtox and Botox?
If you know anything about Botox, Newtox may sound nearly interchangeable with it. Indeed, Newtox is nearly the same as Botox in most ways and is made from the same purified protein called botulinum type A. Both are available and approved for use in the United States today. The major differences are in the manufacturer and the purification process.
Newtox is produced by an aesthetic company known as Evolus and can only be used for cosmetic purposes, such as skin smoothing and wrinkle reduction. This differs from Botox, which can be used for several medical purposes, such as migraine headaches and hyperhidrosis, in addition to its cosmetic uses.
In addition, Newtox goes through an additional purification process using technology known as Hi-Pure. This means that it has been even more highly purified than Botox has and may be safer to use for some.
However, in many ways, Newtox and Botox are practically interchangeable wrinkle treatments. Both reveal dramatic line-smoothing results in very little time, and both injectables are used as temporary treatments to improve the youthfulness of the skin for approximately three to four months. Newtox creates similar natural-looking results with very little to no downtime, making it the ideal treatment for busy adults.
