Skin Treatment Services at Trilogy

During a Regenlite session, the dermatologist uses a handpiece to deliver a low intensity laser to the patient’s skin. The laser light is powerful enough to kill the bacteria that leads to acne while stimulating collagen production that leaves skin elastic. At the same time, it is comfortable for the patient. Regenlite targets and treats:

  • Spider veins
  • Port wine stains
  • Warts
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Angiomas
  • All types of acne
  • Acne scars
  • Lines and wrinkles

A Regenlite session takes about 30 to 45 minutes if the patient’s entire face is treated. The number of treatments depends on the problem. A person with acne may have three treatments about a month apart, while a person whose complaint is fine lines or wrinkles may have a treatment every week. Improvements can last as long as a year.

Intense pulsed light, or IPL targets problem areas with pulses of light of different wavelengths. This makes it superb in treating areas of skin that are a different color than the surrounding skin, such as:

  • Freckles
  • Birthmarks
  • Port wine stains
  • Liver
  • Sun spots
  • Scars

The pulsed light targets the layer of skin just beneath the top layer, which reduces peeling and discomfort.

An IPL session usually lasts around 20 minutes and is an outpatient procedure. Our dermatologists usually recommend that the patient receive four to six treatments scheduled about a month apart to get the best results.

This laser skin treatment is used with sublative rejuvenation. Sublative rejuvenation uses radio frequencies to improve skin tone and complexion and to reduce the look of wrinkles, large pores and scars. The radio frequency pulses create a grid of minuscule spots in the skin. This stimulates the body’s own healing by activating fibroblasts in the area. Fibroblasts are cells found in the connective tissue of the skin that tell the body to make collagen and other substances that heal the skin, and make it supple. At the same time, the untreated skin around the grid, and the application of the eMatrix laser supports the healing process.

Patients who opt for sublative rejuvenation with eMatrix are first given a topical anesthesia that’s allowed to work for about a half an hour. The patient can go home soon after the treatment. Once home, they'll have some swelling and redness that usually goes away within a week. Our patients are able to see improvements from three to six months after the treatment.

There are some people who should not have eMatrix. These are people who’ve taken Accutane for their acne within six months of the treatment, people who have metal implants or pacemakers and people who have diabetes, cold sores and autoimmune problems. Patients who have recently had injectable dermal fillers in the place they want treated should also not have eMatrix.

Dermatologists recommend that patients get about three to five eMatrix procedures to see best results.

Fractional CO2 Resurfacing

Our dermatologists prize the CO2 laser for its accuracy. When it’s used as part of fractional laser skin resurfacing, it is unsurpassed in removing wrinkles, scars, fine lines and damage to the skin caused by pollutants, toxins or the sun’s ultraviolet rays. It allows our doctors to have such control that they can even work around the patient’s eyes in safety.

Like the other modalities, fractional CO2 resurfacing causes a slight but controlled injury to the skin, but only to those areas of the skin that need to be treated. In one type of fractional laser resurfacing, the chromophores and water in the patient’s skin absorb the pulses of laser light. The heat that results vaporizes just that area of the skin, one microscopic layer at a time. The body responds by producing new skin and collagen. Another type of laser tightens the skin without vaporizing it.

Before the session, the patient’s skin is cleaned, and the nurse or doctor marks the skin to be treated. Goggles are put on the patient to protect their eyes, and their face is protected with towels. The patient is given a numbing agent then the doctor passes a handheld device over the skin. The delicacy of the skin and the depth of the wrinkles or scars dictate how often the device is passed. To keep the patient comfortable, the doctor soothes their skin with cool salt water between passes. After the session, the doctor paints the skin with soothing ointment.

Reaction™ is a body contouring laser treatment that reduces the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks. It also tightens sagging skin on both face and body. Like eMatrix, Reaction™ uses radio frequency energy to treat the skin. It also uses vacuum therapy to draw the radio frequencies deep into the skin, and stimulate the body’s healing abilities. It gets its energy from CORE technology, which has three radio frequency modes as well as a multichannel mode. This supports overall health by helping the blood circulate and the lymphatic system to drain. Our doctors recommend four to eight 20 to 30 minute sessions for best results.

People who have laser skin resurfacing or sublative rejuvenation should avoid perfumes or washing their face with harsh soap for at least a few days after the treatment. They should rinse their skin regularly with cool water, apply the ointment the doctor prescribed, and change the dressings when needed. They should avoid the sun for at least a week and wear sunscreen when they go out.
